This blog focuses primarily on the issue of migration of skilled and educated persons from developing countries to developed countries, a phenomenon popularly called "brain drain." The term "STEP OUT" migration comes from our recent book, Stepping Out of the Brain Drain: Applying Catholic Social Teaching in a New Era of Migration, and is an acronym for Scientific, Technical, and Educated Professionals Out of Underdeveloped Territories. We seek to replace in the scholarly and popular literature the imprecise and decidedly biased term "brain drain" with an alternative and more appropriate terminology.
